Dear UCLA students, faculty and allies,
Tomorrow is the #MillionStudentMarch, a national day of action on hundreds of college campuses. This action also coincides with national solidarity events in support of BLM and Black students at Mizzou, making it an especially significant day to turn out and show your support.
At UCLA, students will meet between Royce and Powell at 1pm for a rally. Organizers are calling for students, faculty and allies to come with signs in solidarity with Mizzou students, who are protesting racism on their campus and in their communities. This call resonates with ongoing campaigns at the UC, where groups like the Black Student Union have been organizing to end racial violence at school, in our communities, and in our systems of injustice.
All over, momentum has been building towards a sustained student movement that focuses on the intersections of several interrelated forms of oppression including racism (particularly against Black people), class oppression through student debt, and the unfair treatment and impoverishment of campus workers.
Let’s turn out tomorrow with signs in support of Black students at Mizzou and help establish links among these and other social justice movements by building bonds of solidarity together.
In Solidarity,
Black students at UCLA
